This book has been an incredible way for me to get back into the practice of reading and thinking in useful Spanish, in a variety of situations. I highly recommend this, and the other, equally helpful language-learning materials that are offered by Lingo Mastery. Although they did contact me for a review of their products (They had no idea what my review might be like), I do think very highly of their contributions to my foreign language bookcase, and to the Kindle app on my phone! Very good stuff.

As Ms. Hoag stated in her review, these are not exact translations. I am, maybe, at the advanced beginner level with a good understanding of grammar and a poor ability to converse. So I chose this book. Setting idioms aside, some of the verbs in these conversations are not the verbs that are routinely used in my basic and intermediate Spanish lessons. So, I end up memorizing or rewriting using verbs I learned. It is good exercise to pull out the dictionary and book of verbs, while trying to translate the Spanish or English. I find that I prefer to mark up the English side with a better, more literal translation. This should be an interesting journey.

Good and realistic dialogues, interesting situations actually capture your curiosity. Only challenge is that there are a lot of idiomatic expressions that you have to figure out, there is no translation word by word. I an finding this book useful although I find the short stories more helpful. But I would definitely recommend it/

Excellent dialogues to learn conversational Spanish. If you are wanting to improve your Spanish I also recommend Lingo Mastery 2000 Most Common Spanish Words.

One of the best books I've bought for my Spanish two class. It pushes them past beginner stage without being so advanced that they can't find the main ideas in each dialogue. It introduces vocabulary needed for common events such as getting a flight or taking a taxi and last but not least the time it takes to read is around five minutes which, with another 5 minutes to dissect and discuss fits in really well to our class schedule.

These short dialogues are just perfect to learn what to do in various situations. You can sit down and read one or two a day and improve your skills. I recommend these probably for advanced beginners which is the level that I am at in my Spanish studies. This series is quite good and we are using the book of short stories in my class.

One pager dialogues. I can pick this up anytime and pick a random page and enjoy it. Good book for beginners to intermediate.

Very helpful with everyday conversation, great examples in Spanish and English. Used it almost every day since I purchased.

The book is very informative and I think its a must have for collectors. They tackle many topics including the history of grading, definitions, grading non traditional comics, third party graders, restoration, preservation, and more. My only complaint would be this. They have a section of high definition pictures of various comic books in order to help you understand the grading system. For each grade they have several different examples which is great but they only show the front covers. I wish they included a picture of the back cover as well since this is important in the grading process. I have comics where the front and back covers can present different issues and combining the 2 to get a grade is often my challenge.

Anyone selling comics should have this book. No joke. There are too many phony graders out there that don't know what they are doing or what to call their defects. I was one of them before I got this book. In 3 days of using this book to grade comics, I feel finally like a legitimate grader. This book gave me many technical terms and pictures to show what exactly the defect looks like. I just can't give this book enough credit.After going to my local comic shop 1-2 times a week for grading help (thanks to Time Warp in Boulder, you guys rock!!!), finally I have my grading Bible and can leave them alone to get their work done!

This book is a great tool for comic book aficionados, but I can't recommend it for anyone who doesn't know at least a little about grading comic books already. It would be very easy to undergrade or overgrade using this book alone. You need to see comics being graded in person in order to really learn how it's done, and that can't happen with just pictures. It doesn't help that a few of the books included here make questionable examples. Using a book with a white or pale-coloured cover and calling out creasing is not productive because a photo of that won't show anything, and the same goes for a dark cover and soiling/foxing.Honestly, this is a great book, but only if you already know how to use it.

The pictures really help one distinguish the differences in mid-grade books, which I believe most collectors have the greatest difficulty in grading accurately. For all the talk about collectors and sellers over-grading books, I believe there is just as much under-grading in the 3.0 to 6.0 area.

It's helped me understand the condition my comics are in. More important it helps me buy comics at the right price and I have more confidence in my judgement, and I know when to walk away from a sale or buy it.

Got this as a present, my brother loves it since he's a big comic guy. Its fun to flip thru too to learn key issues and history of some of the issues.

Excellent book. Invaluable to the comic collector.

About the Author

Andrew M. Pomerantz (BA, psychology, Washington University in St. Louis; MA, Ph D, clinical psychology, Saint Louis University) is professor of Psychology and director of the Clinical Adult Psychology Graduate Program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses related to clinical psychology and maintains a part-time private practice of clinical psychology in St. Louis. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Indiana University School of Medicine Psychology Training Consortium. He is the author of Clinical Psychology: Science, Practice, and Culture (3rd Edition, SAGE, 2013) and Psychological Assessment and Report Writing (with Karen Goldfinger; SAGE, 2010). He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Psychology, Ethics & Behavior, and the Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy. He served two terms as president of Psychotherapy Saint Louis and is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Information comes off fairly biased in comparison to other textbooks (you can tell the author prefers humanistic and cognitive theories and dislikes behaviorism (and psychoanalysis, but most agree that's a bunch of BS at this point anyway)), minimizes key players in psychology's history, and it also presents information in a way that comes across as *very* patronizing ("If you look in a mirror, you understand reflection" REALLY?). This was used as a textbook for a 400 level clinical course suggested for CADCII certification, and I found it useless (though that's mostly on the professor for choosing this book).

Easy to read and organized well. I always wonder how current textbooks are and if they provide information that accurately represents scientific consensus. This one seems to get most information correct and seems fairly objective when comparing psychological sub-disciplines.

id give it 5 but no cd as listed. this edition is almost the same as the current one. I still got a great bargain compared to the newest edition. this is written for college level intro to clinical psych. needed a copyy to aid me in my current clinical Psych, class with kaplan online. amazon is now aware of this issue as they sent me a second copy with both parties hoping to see the cd. A great customer service and a refund for this problem. if they do find a cd for it those who are want to add comment after this mentioning any updates will be great

Text is suited for a high school or community college class. I purchased it as a somewhat updated version of my very old clinical psychology text. It is not suitable for a 4-year college/university survey course as it lacks much in the way of detail, only providing a broad overview of the covered topics.

This book is easy to read and understand. I use it for my Clinical Psychology class and it is very helpful.

This is my book to finish my doctoral program. It's great to review and covers good points from ethics to multiculturalism. The book is in excellent condition and arrived on time with out delay.

I like this textbook is easy to read. It has 19 chapters, but it's smaller (size-wise) than most text books. It's straight forward and has pretty good, up to date information in it.

I bought this textbook for a class, and it arrived quickly and was a good price. I am actually somewhat surprised at the material in the textbook. A lot of it focuses on the practice itself, which I think is an interesting take, as every other psychology textbook I have read focuses primarily on the "big names" in research.

Those lines begin one of the most infamous of contemporary Scottish novels. The narrator, Frank Cauldhame, is a weird teenager who lives on a tiny island connected to mainland Scotland by a bridge. He maintains grisly Sacrifice Poles to serve as his early warning system and deterrent against anyone who might invade his territory.

Few novelists have ever burst onto the literary scene with as much controversy as Iain Banks in 1984. The Wasp Factory was reviled by many reviewers on account of its violence and sadism, but applauded by others as a new and Scottish voice--that is, a departure from the English literary tradition. The controversy is a bit puzzling in retrospect, because there is little to object to in this novel, if you're familiar with genre horror.

The Wasp Factory is distinguished by an authentically felt and deftly written first-person style, delicious dark humor, a sense of the surreal, and a serious examination of the psyche of a childhood psychopath. Most readers will find that they sympathize with and even like Frank, despite his three murders (each of which is hilarious in an Edward Gorey fashion).
