This book is an excellent primer for those who are looking to learn more about Judaism, whether for the purpose of gaining general knowledge or wishing to discover whether conversion is a good route for them to take. It is incredibly informative and easy to read without dumbing down things or sounding preachy- in fact, this book makes no attempt to encourage conversion, it just provides information clearly. A refreshing change from many Christian works which encourage conversion first and provide information second, often in false causal chains or assuming unrelated line items to be true. This book is not dogmatic making it great.

Explains concepts very well. Good textbook for Judaism classes.

Wonderful foundation book about Judaism. Great for people who are converting or those who want to understand the faith and traditions of the Jewish people.

Latvia is a tiny country, but you'd never know that from browsing this perfectly constructed travel guide. I won't blather on about this book, but suffice to say that it offers the optimum balance between historical, cultural, natural and practical information. Glossy photography? Not here. Buy this book for the quality of its writing. This guide does a particularly good job of explaining to readers how Latvia is not Estonia, not Lithuania, and certainly not Russia. The Baltic states, often (and incorrectly) considered one cultural space, become distinct countries in each of the Bradt guides. This one is especially good.Lovely Riga, of course, figures prominently, but other fascinating places in Latvia are revealed for you as well, cultural and natural. Since Bradt puts so much effort into their Baltic series, and new editions appear frequently, you can be sure that listings are comprehensive and right up to date. There's no better guide to Latvia than this one.

This little, and I mean little, book is packed with good history and great information. If you are traveling to Latvia it is a great resource!

I thought this book was very informative i really enjoyed all it had to stay about Latvia. It really makes you feel as if oyu know the country better I recommnd this book to anyone who is taking a trip to Latvia or one of the Baltic states the book is even good for just review! This book is a definte if you are lookign for information and description on latvia.

The product was in excellent shape when I received it. The book looked as if it were new and bought right off the book store shelf.
